Baton Rouge, LA – Today, Colonel Rob Maness announced his endorsement of Republican Nominee for Congress in Louisiana’s 6th District, Garret Graves. The endorsement comes after Graves received 27% of the vote in the primary, setting up a December 6th runoff against Democrat Edwin Edwards.
Maness threw support behind Garret Graves for Congress saying, "Today, I am proud to lend my support to Garret Graves. A life-long Louisianan, Graves’s passion for our state burns bright. His life experiences serving in the public and private sectors, including his own family’s small business, have instilled in him the belief that we aren’t supposed to work for Washington, but Washington is supposed to work for us.
An avid outdoorsman, Graves knows Louisiana has been blessed with abundant natural resources that can, and should, power America… Garret Graves is the conservative choice for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District. Our state is fortunate that he is willing to serve and I’m proud to join with other conservatives in supporting him."
Graves, a Baton Rouge native, spent six years as the chairman of Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and is an expert in the state's 50-year, $50 billion coastal master plan. He also represented the state in negotiations with BP and public agencies after the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill in 2010. In addition, he has legislative experience as a former aide to U.S. Sen. David Vitter, where he worked with the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. Garret spent the early years of his career teaching outdoor education and working in the land surveying and civil engineering industry.
The runoff election will be held on December 6th with polls being open from 7am – 8pm.
