OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON HOW WE ANSWER THE CALL ON COASTAL RESTORATION AND FLOOD PROTECTION

In Congress I will fight to:

• Protect communities before a hurricane – not after
• Eliminate wasteful and time-consuming federal studies
• Let the state and levee districts lead restoration and protection efforts

Imagine what New Yorkers would say if they had lost 1900 square miles of their land in the 20th century. What would they do if they faced losing another 700 square miles over the next 40 years?

When faced with this fate, Louisianans stepped up to the line. Together, we have built or improved more miles of levees and restored more acres of our coast than ever before. But, more needs to be done. Without continued investment and focus, Baton Rouge is on track to become a coastal town. Each hurricane season brings with it a threat to destroy homes, property, inflict great damage to our offshore drilling sector and hurt human lives.
